LEGISLATION


THE CONTEXT

The prevention in France is something written in the labor code. The European Directive 89/391/CEE of June 12, 1989 let the apparition of the law n°91-1414 of December 31, 1991. This law gives the nine principles to follow for doing prevention in any activities.
The nine principles to follow in the following order are:
  1. Avoid risks
  2. Assess the risk that cannot be avoided
  3. Combat risk at its origin
  4. Adapt the work for people in terms of workstation design and the choice of work equipment as well as methods of work and production, in particular to limit the monotonous work and work-rate and reduce effects on the health
  5. Take into account the evolution of the technique
  6. Replacing dangerous things by others that are not dangerous or less dangerous.
  7. Plan prevention by integrating into a coherent way

    • Take collective protection measures by giving them priority over individual protective measures - Give appropriate instructions to workers
