Jahreskongress zum Strategieprozess “Biotechnology 2020+”

Am 28. Juni 2012 fand der dritte Jahreskongress zum Strategieprozess “Biotechnology 2020+” im Café Moskau in Berlin statt. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung startete die Initiative im Jahr 2010 um die nächste Generation biotechnologischer Prozesse zu fördern. Der Strategiekongress wurde eingeführt, um Experten verschiedener Bereiche die Möglichkeit zu geben Ideen für neue Methoden oder Anwendungen auf dem Gebiet der Biotechnology auszutauschen. Sei es in der Medizin, der Industrie oder in Bereichen der Umwelt, jeder such nach neuen Ideen, die umweltfreundliche, effizientere und preis-günstige Prozesse liefern und die Biotechnologie hat ein ungeahntes Potential , das letztendlich zur Beantwortung vieler noch offener Fragen führen könnte. Während des Kongresses wurden bereits existierende Probleme und neue Ideen in Workshops diskutiert und am Ende des Tages präsentiert. Fast 200 Forscher aus Industrie, Wissenschaft und Politik versammelten sich für den Kongress, unter ihnen Studenten aus ganz Deutschland. Warum nahmen diese Studenten an dem Kongress teil und was hatten sie gemeinsam? Alle waren Mitglieder eines der elf deutschen iGEM-Teams.



Folglich diente die diesjährige “Biotechnology 2020+” nicht nur als Austausch- und Kommunikationsplattform für deutsche Wissenschaftler, sondern auch als erstes Treffen der deutschen iGEM-Teams. Jedes Team wurde durch mindestens drei Mitglieder repräsentiert und stellte ein Poster vor, welches ihr eigenes Projekt beschrieb. Die übrige Zeit wurde effizient genutzt: neue Ideen für die Förderung der Synthetischen Biologie wurden gesammelt, häufige Probleme diskutiert und am wichtigsten, Banden zwischen den deutschen Team geknüpft, um zukünftige Kooperationen zu ermöglichen. Eine der unter den iGEM-Mitgliedern am meisten diskutierten Fragen war: „Wie können wir die Synthetische Biologie der Allgemeinheit näher bringen?“ Diese Frage beschäftigte alle von ihnen, da es immer wichtig ist, zu erwägen, welchen Einfluss ein Projekt auf das Leben der Bevölkerung oder die Umwelt haben könnte. Im Rahmen ihres Treffens vereinbarten sie die Durchführung eines kollektiven „Tag zur Synthetischen Biologie“ am 25.08. Dieser soll die Öffentlichkeit über synthetische Biologie informieren und helfen existierende Zweifel zu verteiben.
