Project Motivation

Since the Programmable Logic Device has played a significant role in the progress of digital technology, we were motivated to apply it in cells to build gene circuits, which means the logic inside cells can be changed up to the external stimulus we’ve given beforehand. We name it CPLD, which is short for Cell-based Programmable Logic Device.

PLD

A programmable logic device or PLD is an electronic component used to build reconfigurable digital circuits. Unlike a logic gate, which has a fixed function, a PLD has an undefined function at the time of manufacture. Before the PLD can be used in a circuit it must be programmed, that is, reconfigured.
As is the fact, PLD serves as a milestone in the progress of digital technology and is now widespread in digital logic experiments.
