Kanamycin

About

Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that interacts with the 30S subunit of prokayotic ribosomes inducing mistranslations thus inhibiting translocation during protein synthesis. [1]

Stability

  • Kanamycin is one of the few autoclavable antibiotics
  • Culture plates can be stored for about 2-3 month at 4°C (as a batch in a bag or individually sealed with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parafilm Parafilm])
