Kanamycin
About
Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that interacts with the 30S subunit of prokayotic ribosomes inducing mistranslations thus inhibiting translocation during protein synthesis.[1]
Stock
- Mix:
- 3 g kanamycin (75 mg/mL)
- ad. 40 mL dist. water
- sterile filtration
- aliquot in 1 mL stocks and store at -20°C
Stability
- Kanamycin is one of the few autoclavable antibiotics
- Culture plates can be stored for about 2-3 month at 4°C (as a batch in a bag or individually sealed with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parafilm Parafilm])
