Synthetische Biologie beinhaltet die Konstruktion genetisch veränderter DNA und das anschließende Einfügen derer in lebende Zellen. Das Einbringen von „durch Menschenhand“ hergestellter DNA in Organismen ist ein kontrovers diskutiertes Thema. Besonders jener Teil der Gesellschaft, der nicht mit Gentechnologie vertraut ist, zeigt vehemente Missbilligung. Dies kann verschiedene Auslöser haben. Einige fürchten möglicherweise die unvorhersehbaren Konsequenzen, andere lehnen die Idee „Gott zu spielen“ ab. Welche auch immer die zugrundeliegenden Ursachen sein mögen, es ist notwendig die Bevölkerung grundlegend aufzuklären, um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Jedoch ist es in der Verantwortung eines jeden Wissenschaftlers sich über die eventuellen Folgen bewusst zu sein und dementsprechend angemessen zu handeln.

Und genau darum geht es auch bei „human practice“, auf deutsch soviel wie Öffentlichkeitsarbeit. Die iGEM-Teilnehmer werden ermutigt der Allgemeinheit das Prinzip und die Intention des Wettbewerbs näher zu bringen und das eigene Thema zu präsentieren. Für das Team Göttingen ist es ein besonderes Anliegen eine Vorstellung zu bekommen, welche Ängste, Vorbehalte und Eindrücke die Menschen gegenüber der synthetischen Biologie und verwandten Felder haben.

Synthetische Biologie beinhaltet die Konstruktion genetisch veränderter DNA und das anschließende Einfügen derer in lebende Zellen. Das Einbringen von „durch Menschenhand“ hergestellter DNA in Organismen ist ein kontrovers diskutiertes Thema. Besonders jener Teil der Gesellschaft, der nicht mit Gentechnologie vertraut ist, zeigt vehemente Missbilligung. Dies kann verschiedene Auslöser haben. Einige fürchten möglicherweise die unvorhersehbaren Konsequenzen, andere lehnen die Idee „Gott zu spielen“ ab. Welche auch immer die zugrundeliegenden Ursachen sein mögen, es ist notwendig die Bevölkerung grundlegend aufzuklären um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Jedoch ist es in der Verantwortung eines jeden Wissenschaftlers sich über die eventuellen Folgen bewusst zu sein und dementsprechend angemessen zu handeln.

Und genau darum geht es auch bei „human practice“, auf deutsch soviel wie Öffentlichkeitsarbeit. Die iGEM-Teilnehmer werden ermutigt der Allgemeinheit das Prinzip und die Intention des Wettbewerbs näher zu bringen und das eigene Thema zu präsentieren. Für das Team Göttingen ist es ein besonderes Anliegen eine Vorstellung zu bekommen welche Ängste, Vorbehalte und Eindrücke die Menschen gegenüber der synthetischen Biologie und verwandten Felder haben.

Unsere "Human Practice" Projekte

Synthetische Biologie beinhaltet die Konstruktion genetisch veränderter DNA und das anschließende Einfügen derer in lebende Zellen. Das Einbringen von „durch Menschenhand“ hergestellter DNA in Organismen ist ein kontrovers diskutiertes Thema. Besonders jener Teil der Gesellschaft, der nicht mit Gentechnologie vertraut ist, zeigt vehemente Missbilligung. Dies kann verschiedene Auslöser haben. Einige fürchten möglicherweise die unvorhersehbaren Konsequenzen, andere lehnen die Idee „Gott zu spielen“ ab. Welche auch immer die zugrundeliegenden Ursachen sein mögen, es ist notwendig die Bevölkerung grundlegend aufzuklären, um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Jedoch ist es in der Verantwortung eines jeden Wissenschaftlers sich über die eventuellen Folgen bewusst zu sein und dementsprechend angemessen zu handeln.

Und genau darum geht es auch bei „human practice“, auf deutsch soviel wie Öffentlichkeitsarbeit. Die iGEM-Teilnehmer werden ermutigt der Allgemeinheit das Prinzip und die Intention des Wettbewerbs näher zu bringen und das eigene Thema zu präsentieren. Für das Team Göttingen ist es ein besonderes Anliegen eine Vorstellung zu bekommen, welche Ängste, Vorbehalte und Eindrücke die Menschen gegenüber der synthetischen Biologie und verwandten Felder haben.

Unsere Bemühungen dieser Aufklärung nachzukommen

  • Zeitungsartikel zur Bekanntmachung der Synthetischen Biologie und unseres Projektes
  • Wir haben am bundesweiten Tag der Synthetischen Biologie teilgenommen, um die Menschen über Synthetische Biologie und Biotechnologie zu informieren
  • Öffentliche Umfrage zur Thematik Synthetischer Biologie um herauszufinden was die Menschen von Synthetischer Biologie und Biotechnologie halten
  • Podiumsdiskussion zur Thematik Synthetischer Biologie, um mit den Menschen und Experten über Synthetiscebiologie zu diskutieren
  • Öffentlicher Brief an das Wissenschaftsministerium
  • Bilingualität der Homepage (deutsch / englisch) um allen Deutschen einen Zugang zu unserem Projekt zu bieten
  • Veranschaulichung des Projektes mit Flash Coli. Eine verständliche und lustige Einführung für alle Altersgruppen.
  • Spaßfaktor: Flash Coli - Das Spiel - Biologie lernen auf witziger Art und Weise.
