Coomassie stain
About
Coomassie Brilliant Blue is the name of a two component triphenylmethane dye commonly used for staining proteins in SDS page.
Ingredients
Mix together the following contents under a fume hood:
- 0.5L Methanol
- 70mL Acetic Acid
- 430mL dH2O
- 1g Brilliant Blue
Application
- SDS page gel is placed in a small tub and covered in stain
- Destaining is accomplished with a mix of methanol and acetic acid
