<regulartext>Our goal is to get a steady ratio of the two strains’ populations, which is neither too large nor too small. Firstly, we did mathematical analysis based on the ODEs above; then we did simulation of this system. What’s more, we also searched suitable parameters which could make the system go to a steady ratio of the two strains to test the robustness of this system. At last, we did a sensitivity analysis which could tell us which parameter is sensitive if we want to get a steady ratio.

<regulartext> Our goal was to understand what parameters allowed for a steady state population ratio and also understand how sensitive the steady state ratio was for each parameter. In particular we wanted to show that the parameters controlled by the inducer molecules (the alpha parameters) could significantly change the steady state ratio given that the other parameters were within a realistic range.

Modeling of the Auxotroph System

Our goal was to understand what parameters allowed for a steady state population ratio and also understand how sensitive the steady state ratio was for each parameter. In particular we wanted to show that the parameters controlled by the inducer molecules (the alpha parameters) could significantly change the steady state ratio given that the other parameters were within a realistic range.
