Since we vision an iGEM world where the work with ''Bacillus subtilis'' is as easy as the work with ''E. coli'' we want to add the last piece of the puzzle. So far there is no way in exchanging'' Bacillus subtilis'' strains through the registry. Since we vision an iGEM world where the work with ''Bacillus subtilis'' is as easy as the work with ''E. coli'', here we want to add the last piece of the puzzle. So far there is no way in exchanging'' Bacillus subtilis'' strains through the registry. However for the work with Bacillus subtilis the exchange and the work with different strains is much more important than it is with E.coli. There are two reasons for it:
 +

 +
* One reason for this, is the fact that mostly integrative plasmids were used. Hence, the storage of the plasmids is less important than the strains.
 +
* The other reason is the fact that the transformation of genomic DNA in ''B. subtilis'' is much more efficient than with plasmids.

As long as there is no option in the registry to store and order ''Bacillus subtilis‘‘ strains, the lab of Prof. Thorsten Mascher offers to maintain an iGEM ''Bacillus subtilis'' strain collection. So iGEM teams can send their strains or order strains that are available.
