(10:30 am) continuation of agar plating. As well as running a few practises to ensure our technique is correct we have 25 CE kits to get through, in addition to a few controls using sterile polystyrene not placed in soil so to set a base line to compare our results too, you can never have too many controls. So as you can imagine it might take a while for us all to plate them, but it will be a big step to take on the road to our project success.

Day Ten

(10:30 am) The group continued the agar plating. As well as running a few practises to ensure our technique is correct we have 20 CSE kits to get through. So as you can imagine it might take a while for us all to plate them, but it will be a big step to take on the road to our project success.

(11:15 am) the production line begins, tony separating the petri dishes and luke plating out, will updating wiki as they go plus twittering, facebooking and other media communications, enjoy my sporadic posts.

(13:45 pm) Lab inductions complete and everyone can now be in the lab... yay. So on with the plating. 10 down 25 to go, luke working with Reema (our new member specialising in organic chemistry... now currently learning biology of plating).

(14:45) 7 kits down, 18 to go Chris has taken over from Luke (who's writing this). The plated out kits are being left on a shelf by the bench.

(17:00) Finished plating out the last of the 25. A good days work. Now we can leave the plates to grow cultures and see what we get.
