Background
Optogenetics is a new and emerging field that involves light sensitive proteins inserted into cells that will in turn control trasncription of certain genes. Using optogenetics the production of second messengers, localization on proteins and even complex neural circuits in mammals can be controlled using only light. Using targeted gene therapies in this way, optogenetics has great potential for gene therapies for diseases that are caused by improper expression of certain genes. Optogenetics can be applied with high resolution over space and time and offers a minimally invasive technique of gene control using light rather than inciting transcription of certain genes using other methods (some examples should be added here). Multichromatic gene control is now being explored because it allows more precise and controlled gene control as well as controlling multiple genes rather than one. For example, red light could suppress or turn on a certain gene while green light will turn on or suppress another gene. This way controlling various genes in living cells is possible.

Future Directions
The app is freely available on google play and can be downloaded by any tablet. However, we think that it is important that we make this app available on the apple ipad as well which is another direction that we want it to go. We also would like more people to know about the app because of how accessible it is for testing. -different frequencies of blinking light -blending different wavelengths of light -samsung tab II. super Amoled screen. a bunch of really small LEDs. Blend of specific 3 wavelengths rather than using retina displays that filter light but isn't as pure as LED that has blue light.
