Overall project

The oral microbiome is home to a variety of both commensal and harmful microbes. Oral health requires a fine balance of these organisms, which can be upset by broad-spectrum antibiotics. We seek to use synthetic biology tools to create a targeting system for a peptide based antibiotic to kill only a specific, harmful member of the oral microbiome.
