The majority of us are studying biology, two of us are Bachelor and five are Master students... and ''Julia'', is studying biochemistry in her Masters program. Together with ''Jara'' she is now participating for the third time in the iGEM competition. They have the know-how and calmness of two experienced iGEM members. Especially ''Jara'' is known as our walking library. If she is not helping out, she is working on the vectors of the [https://2012.igem.org/Team:LMU-Munich/Bacillus_BioBricks '''''Bacillus''B'''io'''B'''rick'''B'''ox]. The rest of us are enjoying all of the different aspects and work of an iGEM project for the first time; and the stress in the lab. Only ''Simon'' can ''often'' escape from it, as he is dealing with topics like collaborations, website, human practise, sponsors, etc. But as we are a group of only ten people there is no graph, no abstract, not even one presentation slide which isn't discussed enthusiastically, and no work going undivided. The design and presentation of the story for our Amsterdam talk ([https://2012.igem.org/Regions/Europe/Jamboree European Jamboree]) is being developed and controlled by ''Franzi'', ''Jenny'' and ''Tamara''. In the lab they are as well working together on the [https://2012.igem.org/Team:LMU-Munich/Spore_Coat_Proteins '''Sporo'''beads]. At this, ''Franzi'' and ''Tamara'' are fusing different proteins to the spore crust, while ''Jenny'' and ''Julia'' are inhibiting the germination ([https://2012.igem.org/Team:LMU-Munich/Germination_Stop '''Germination'''STOP]). ''Korinna'' is monitoring the lab duties and safety and is also known as the data generator. The sheer amount of data derived from her work and evaluation of all our promoters is the heart of our well evaluated [https://2012.igem.org/Team:LMU-Munich/Bacillus_BioBricks '''''Bacillus''B'''io'''B'''rick'''B'''ox], which was assisted to some extend by ''Jara''.

As we are a team of only ten people, and the iGEM competition is a new experience for many of us, we work closely together on all aspects of our work. There is no graph, no abstract, not even a single presentation slide that isn't enthusiastically discussed by the whole team. We divide our lab work as well, so that each of us has spent some time working on the other modules.

All of us are working closely together with our three advisors, ''Prof. Thorsten Mascher'', ''Dr. Tina Wecke'' and ''Dr. Georg Fritz''. ''Prof. Thorsten Mascher'' is not only offering us a place in his lab, but also a lot of support and input on all parts of the project. ''Tina'' is the one to go to for trouble shooting and strategy planning and ''Georg'' is advising us how to best evaluate parts and how to model.

==Where we are from==

-
We are from Munich, the world's largest village ;-)

-
Munich is in Bavaria, known for its beer (in Munich especially the Oktoberfest) and its dialect. Though many Munich natives don't have a dialect, you will always find many Münchners drinking beer in one of the many beergardens on a sunny day.
+
==Where we are from==
-
Munich has two universities, the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU, our team) and the Technical University ([https://2012.igem.org/Team:TU_Munich TUM]). Even though the interests don't overlap extensively (the LMU is more interested in basic research while the TUM more in application), there is still some sort of lighthearted competition between these two about which of these is the "real" university of Munich. Despite this, our two teams got along just fine and collaborated on the [[Team:LMU-Munich/Human_Practice/SynBio_Day|Synbio day]].
+
München mag dich!
-
Munich itself, even though it has a lot of different places to offer, has many "central" places. If you want to go shopping: Kaufinger Straße, if you want to go to a park and lay in the sun: Englischer Garten, if you want to visit a natural history museum: Deutsches Museum, if you want to visit an art museum: Pinakotheken, if you want to study: LMU (just kidding). But you get the point. That is probably also the reason why we see our city as one of the largest villages in the world, because we always seem to meet people we know, because we all go the same places. And maybe someday we will meet you here ...
+

This is the slogan of Munich, the city where our team is from. It stands for the cosmopolitan character of Munich. But it is also a declaration of love to its citizens. All of us enjoy the variety of activities that Munich has to offer. The inner city shows traces of Munich|s history, the English Garden provides the space for sunny or snowy days, quarters are complete with diverse museums, galleries, cafes and bars... In many of these quarters you will meet many students, on the run or relaxing between classes, as two universities are located in Munich, [http://www.tum.de/en/homepage/ Technical University of Munich (TUM)] and [http://www.en.uni-muenchen.de/index.html Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU)]. We study at the LMU, which is famous for over 500 years of research in academics. We comprise the LMU's third iGEM team. Working hard in the lab, we strive to make the LMU, and the city of Munich, proud of our accomplishments in this year's competition.
