The iGEM Team Freiburg 2012 (FreiGEM) is dedicated to standardizing the synthesis of Transactivator-like (TAL) proteins, i.e. DNA-binding proteins. In contrast to zinc-finger proteins they consist of domain-like repeats in their primary structure that differ only by two amino acids. These two amino acids of a given repeat determine which DNA base the repeat will bind to. By providing efficient mechanisms to combine the different repeats in order to target a certain DNA sequence of around 14bp the FreiGEM team is working towards establishing a standardized kit. This one tube essay will provide the user with an easy, quick and cost-efficient way to design his or her individualized TAL protein in just a glance.

Stay tuned to FreiGEM 2012 - we will keep you in the loop.
