The poster of The Constructor, presented at the German Synthetic Biology Conference in May 2012 in Munich.

Plug and Apply System

GFP-coil, coils, the idea

Outside Modifications

  • Designed the primers for amplification of the needed constructs
  • Delivered the proof of principle that these primers work [link to framshift, Hugo]
  • Provided the templates for modifications and placed them in the partsregistry
  • Isolated the PLRV from nature which, in theory, should be easy to modify on the outside

Inside Modifications

Negative CCMV, Frameshift

Virus Like particles

Detection Isolation from nature

General

  • We organised a mini Symposium for all dutch teams in the begining of the competition to create a national network and eventualy a national effort
  • We visited secondary schools to teach them about synthetic biology and let the make leafelets about synthetic biology.
  • We went to present our project and The Constructor at the Centre of Advanced Studies Synthetic Biology conference in Munich, where we learned a lot and get familiar with the German iGEM teams
  • We communicated to a graphical designer to obtain an kinetic graphical movie of our VLP formation, that is included in our introduction page movie.
  • We involved a communication study in our discovery festival human practises, so that we do not only inform the public, but also will have results on how scientist communicate with the public.
  • We have taken a number of inverviews with stakeholders to have an opinion of expert on our project, regulations around our project and about the idea of an open source environment
