Make nutrient broth (1 L) for liquid cultures

• Weigh out and combine 5 g of yeast extract and 10 g of peptone
• Bring to 900 mL with dH₂O water and allow solids to dissolve fully
• Autoclave solution
• Bring to 1 L by adding ~100 mL filter-sterilized 50% w/v D-glucose (aka dextrose)
• Store at 4^o C

Make nutrient agar (500 mL) for plate/slant cultures

• Weigh out and combine: 5 g of yeast extract, 10 g of peptone, and 15 g of bacto-agar
• Bring to 900 mL with dH₂O water and allow solids to dissolve fully
• Autoclave solution
• Bring to 1 L by adding ~100 mL filter-sterilized 50% w/v D-glucose (aka dextrose)
• Store at 4^o C
• Re-heat to melt agar for plates and slants, avoiding more than 3-4 cycles of melting
